Summit Energy Recognized by Carmeuse
Summit’s Expertise and Persistence Contributed to Global Organization’s Turnaround
|
Summit Energy Services, Inc., a leading privately held energy management
firm, has been named among companies most responsible for the highly
successful turnaround of Carmeuse, one of the world’s leading
providers of lime products and related technology for commercial and
industrial use.
“Less than four years ago, our company was struggling,” said
Jack Fahler, of Carmeuse. “At our most difficult time, there
were a relative handful of companies that
had a great impact on our success and we wanted to acknowledge their
contributions and honor
them.”
Summit’s CEO, Jim Headlee credited Carmeuse leadership with
getting the most out of the business relationship between the two
companies. “We have always cherished our relationship with Carmeuse,” commented
Mr. Headlee. “Our staff members are taught from day one that
we do not simply want to be a ‘vendor’ to our clients.
Rather, we want to dig in and figure out how we can come along side
them and strategically manage their energy spend. Carmeuse has done
a great job of tapping into all of the resources available to them
at Summit, and we are pleased that the results have been positive.”
Carmeuse North America is the largest producer of lime and limestone
products in North America, manufacturing
and distributing more than 6 million tons
per year of lime products, and an additional
6.9 million tons of limestone aggregates, from 14 manufacturing
facilities. With some 1,400 employees,
Carmeuse North America provides lime products
and related technology for a variety of
commercial and industrial applications
to a variety of industries, including the
flue gas desulfurization, road construction for soil stabilization
and asphalt, steel, water treatment, environmental
treatment, paper,
and chemical industries. From a total
of more than 2500 suppliers, Carmeuse executives created a short list
of 40, ultimately designating 13 companies as having played a pivotal
role in the organization’s comeback.
“Summit came through when we weren’t doing well,” noted
Mr. Fahler. “Summit consistently pushed us in our energy management
and is now regarded as one of our most important supplier partners.
We began really listening to what they were telling us, and Summit
proved to be critical in auditing and negotiating and helping us get
credit. They played an essential role in our energy management process.
We were on a mission to improve the way we do business, and Summit
was a very important partner in that mission.”
