Summit Energy Services Named a Top Supplier by Eaton
|
One of the 12 receiving highest honors was Summit Energy Services,
Inc., of Louisville, Ky., which assists Eaton in procurement and management
of electricity and natural gas. Summit Energy was recognized for outstanding
support of Eaton’s effort to reduce energy consumption, manage
risk, and expand its global energy management program. The company
was also recognized last year as a Premier Supplier.
Richard B. Jacobs, Eaton’s vice president–Supply Chain
Management, said, “We have thousands of suppliers, and we evaluate
them on quality, productivity, innovation, and technology. The companies
we are honoring with these awards excel in these critical categories. ”
The award winners fall within one of three supplier categories: Direct,
Indirect, or Logistics. Direct Materials suppliers are those that
provide goods used directly in the making of products (e.g., bearings,
gaskets, seals, castings, machined components, subassemblies); Indirect
Materials and Services suppliers provide goods used to make products
or support the business (e.g., cutting fluid, maintenance and repair,
office supplies, packaging) and Logistics suppliers handle the transportation
of goods inbound from suppliers and outbound to customers.
“These suppliers are the very best in our global supply base,” Jacobs
said. “They make a real contribution to the continuing success
of our business. ”
With this award Eaton recognizes Summit Energy for their work related
to energy management services. For over a decade, the company has
provided Eaton with energy management services, including tariff analysis,
strategic sourcing and price risk management.
