U.S. GAS: Futures Modestly Up; Market Watches Gulf-Area Storm

Natural-gas futures were modestly higher Friday after early profit-taking was eclipsed by concerns over a potential tropical storm forming near U.S. Gulf oil and gas production facilities. Matt Smith, analyst at Summit Energy, said the potential Tropical Storm Debby, could send prices lower, if it cools down sizzling regional temperatures and cuts air-conditioning demand, without disrupting supplies.
